What is GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) System?
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is the control of the authorisation and licensing of the production and sale of food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, dietary supplements, medical devices, etc. within the framework of the guidelines recommended by the relevant institutions. The ultimate aim of GMP is to prevent damage to the end user.
Although GMP standards vary according to sectors and countries’ legislation, they can basically be achieved through the effective use of a typical quality management system. A number of features such as the end product being free from contamination (undesirable substances/dirt/waste/microorganisms), consistency in production, production being well documented, personnel being well trained are examples of these basic standards.
GMP is regulated by the relevant authorities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Europe, China, India and many other countries.
GMP Certification in Turkey
In accordance with the Cosmetics Regulation adopted by the European Union in 2010, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices in Cosmetics has been obligatory for cosmetic production sites in all member and candidate countries as of July 2013. In this context, TSE (Turkish Standards Institute) started GMP certification activities on 10 December 2012. GMP certificate is required for cosmetic products offered for sale in Turkey and cosmetic exporters in Turkey.
